Alana has been the executive director of the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf for eight years. Her background in accounting and business administration helped prepare her for this role, but it is really the partnerships and relationships that she has built that make her and her team successful. The Food Shelf has one full time employee (Alana), two part-time employees and about 40 volunteers. Together, they serve over 5,000 people per year.
In addition to Alana’s work at the Food Shelf, she volunteers time with several local organizations including New London Water Days, Belgrade Ambassador Program, Celebrate the Lights, First Lutheran of Norway Lake’s auditing committee, and Redeemer Lutheran’s Thanksgiving meal. When not working or volunteering, Alana enjoys spending time with her husband Rick and their two fur babies Otey and Teddy.
